JavaScript

Also known as: JS, ECMAScript

Definition

JavaScript is the programming language of the web. Originally created to make web pages interactive, it now runs everywhere — browsers, servers (Node.js), mobile apps, and even embedded devices.

Simple Explanation

If HTML is the structure of a website and CSS is the styling, JavaScript is the behavior. It makes buttons respond to clicks, forms validate input, data update in real-time, and animations smooth.

Real-World Use Case

A form that validates email format as you type, or a shopping cart that updates totals instantly.
